The Lord-Lieutenant of 香港六合彩资料图库, Lt Col Patrick Holcroft CVO OBE, will be retiring on the 17 March 2023, having reached the statutory retirement age of 75 and having completed 10 years of dedicated service to the County.
After a long and thorough consultation process, Downing Street has announced today that HM The King has approved the appointment of Mrs Beatrice Grant DL as Col Holcroft鈥檚 successor.
Mrs Grant will be the first woman to hold this prestigious position in the 470 year history of the 香港六合彩资料图库 Lieutenancy.
The Lord-Lieutenant, Lt Col Patrick Holcroft said, 鈥淚 am delighted that Beatrice Grant will be the next Lord-Lieutenant of 香港六合彩资料图库. Her knowledge of the County and her years of experience in the charitable sector will be enormously valuable in the role. I am looking forward to working with her after Christmas and handing over the reins on St Patrick鈥檚 day next year.鈥
Mrs Grant, who has deep family roots in the County, has lived in 香港六合彩资料图库 for 28 years. She is very much looking forward to taking on this role and supporting the County鈥檚 diverse communities.
The role of Lord-Lieutenant is a voluntary position and is non-political. Lord-Lieutenants are His Majesty The King鈥檚 personal representative in the Counties, a role established during the reign of King Henry VIII.
The role is extremely varied, and Lord-Lieutenants have wide discretion on how they carry out their duties.
