Hannah Strong, who works in the County Council’s Skills and Investment team has donated her own hair, for the third time, to a Herefordshire based charity called The Little Princess Trust. They provide wigs for children who have lost their hair whilst undergoing cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Hannah has been growing her hair for five years ahead of her charitable chop and says she’s proud to donate her hair to the charity, “I first donated my hair about 15 years ago and this is now the third time that I’ve done it. I only discovered Little Princess Trust after deciding I wanted a dramatic change of hairstyle and wondered if anyone could make use of the off cuts. The charity has been helping children and young people since 2006 and they create real-hair wigs that are donated to sick children and people aged up to 24 years old right across the UK and Ireland.

“I’m lucky that my hair grows very fast, many aren’t in that position. When I had all my hair cut off recently it came as a shock to my colleagues, but once I explained what my hair is being used for, they got it and now I hope that others might also do what I’ve done. These children and young adults are going through a traumatic time, and this is just a little thing that I can do to help. Knowing that my hair is going to help others and could put a smile on their faces makes me feel happy.”

Judy Gibbs, ������ϲ�����ͼ�� County Council Head of Skills and Investment said, “I’m so proud of Hannah and her selfless act. Her donations are inspirational and I’m so proud to have her within my team, going the extra mile to help young people. It’s incredible to think that something as simple as a haircut can make such a huge difference to people’s lives. I really hope others will be inspired by Hannah’s donation.”
