It’s a great opportunity to get tested and encourage others to do the same. Testing is quick, free, confidential and easy.

People can live with HIV for a long time without any symptoms, so testing is the only way to know your HIV status.

If you have HIV, finding out means you can start treatment, stay healthy and avoid passing the virus onto anyone else.

Anyone diagnosed with HIV in the UK can access free treatment and support.

Councillor Karen May, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “HIV testing isn’t an easy conversation to have, but it’s vitally important if we are to reach the Government’s target of ending new cases by 2030.

“So, I encourage everyone to start talking about testing for HIV. By normalising and promoting HIV testing, we can get one step closer to ending new cases of HIV for good.”

It’s very easy to get an HIV test and to get a result quickly. There are many ways to test; at a sexual health clinic, at your GP, through HIV and sexual health charities or by ordering a test online.
