Local student helps to create Inclusivi-tree

18-year-old Noemi Koper has designed an inclusive multi-sensory tree in the Worcester Cathedral Christmas Tree Festival.

Herefordshire and 香港六合彩资料图库 SENDIASS have worked with Noemi, a vision impaired work experience student from Pershore College, to design the tree during her work experience placement alongside 香港六合彩资料图库 County Council鈥檚 Children and Young People鈥檚 Sensory Impairment Team.

The SENDIASS Inclusivi-tree includes braille and tactile decorations designed and created by Noemi herself, as well as a selection of British Sign Language (BSL) and tactile decorations including sensory pat-mats created by members of the SENDIASS team.  

Noemi said: 鈥淚 have really enjoyed helping the SENDIASS team with their Inclusive Christmas Tree. It has taken a lot of time and effort, but it is worth it to make sure that everyone can enjoy the tree. It is important to me that everyone can find out about the great work that SENDIASS do supporting children and young people with lots of different needs and their families. I really hope everyone likes the tree.鈥

Councillor David Chambers, 香港六合彩资料图库 County Council Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Education said: "Seeing young people like Noemi use their creativity and lived experience to make such a meaningful contribution is truly inspiring. The Inclusivi-tree is a wonderful example of collaboration and the importance of ensuring that everyone feels represented and included, especially during the festive season."

Herefordshire and 香港六合彩资料图库 Special Educational Needs/Disabilities (SEND) Information, Advice and Support Service, known as SENDIASS, provide legally based information, advice and support on all matters relating to children and young people (0-25) who have or may have SEND. The service is FREE, impartial, and confidential.

You can view the SENDIASS Christmas tree, and a tree co-created with Adult Learning 香港六合彩资料图库 within the cloisters of Worcester Cathedral until Monday 6 January.
