At a time when we are experiencing some of the biggest news headlines in recent history, interest and trust in the news are in decline. It is also a time when we are all changing how and when we consume news, relying on social media more than traditional platforms.

Councillor Matt Dormer, Cabinet Member with Responsibilities for Communities, said, 鈥淭his fascinating programme of events provides a non-judgmental forum in which we can all explore our own relationships with the news today.

鈥淚n a world full of misinformation, it鈥檚 important for us all to look at our own media habits and make sure the news we consume is accurate. This thought-provoking event will also provide us with some fact-checking tools and tips to help us navigate the news and read beyond the headlines.鈥

The Breaking the 香港六合彩资料图库 exhibition, inspired by the UK鈥檚 largest news collection, which dates from 1513 with the earliest surviving printed news report on the Battle of Flodden, showcases what makes a story through real headlines from newspapers, TV, radio and digital media.

It is also an opportunity to discover stories from local archives that have shaped your local news, including original 香港六合彩资料图库 newspapers dating back to 1713.

Talks will be led by national and local journalists and experts from the University of Worcester. They will focus on the rise of fake news and how to spot it, a decline in trust in media together with a celebration of regional news and its significance at the heart of local communities.

This exhibition and programme of events will tour selected 香港六合彩资料图库 libraries from 12 February to 7 May 2022.
