The scheme to deliver Kepax Bridge was approved by the County鈥檚 Planning and Regulatory Committee today (28 September).
The bridge aims to provide improved cycle and pedestrian connectivity to the north of Worcester City and to enhance links along the riverside.
Building on the success of Sabrina Bridge and Diglis Bridge, 香港六合彩资料图库 County Council and Worcester City Council are working in partnership to provide this new walking and cycling bridge over the River Severn between Gheluvelt Park and Kepax.
Councillor Alan Amos, 香港六合彩资料图库 County Council鈥檚 Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways and Transport, said: 鈥淭his bridge is another big step forward in our commitment to improving the county鈥檚 walking and cycling infrastructure.
鈥淭he bridge will improve connectivity in and around Worcester City for commuters and those in the area for leisure purposes.
鈥淲e have already delivered a number of schemes to improve walking and cycling routes including a number of improvements in and around Bromsgrove, the opening of Crookbarrow Way, Hams Way and Broomhall Way footbridges in Worcester as part of the Southern Link Road scheme and the full refurbishment of Sabrina Bridge in the centre of Worcester.鈥
The planning application followed an extensive pre-planning public engagement exercise, which took place last summer.
Following approval, a detailed programme for the works will be developed.
