Phase 4 of City Centre improvements nearing completion聽

Trinity Street before and after the future high street fund improvements took place.

Phase 4 of the multi-million pound improvement scheme to revitalise key areas of Worcester City Centre is nearing completion. 

This phase, included the resurfacing of roads and paths, upgrading of parking bays, installation of new walls and handrails across Trinity Street, St Nicholas Street and The Foregate. 

Previous phases of the improvements have been completed in Angel Row, Angel Place, St Swithin鈥檚 Street, Trinity Passage and The Cross. 

Councillor Marc Bayliss, 香港六合彩资料图库 County Council's Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Economy, Infrastructure and Skills said: 鈥淚鈥檓 delighted with the works, so far, they鈥檙e making a huge difference to the City Centre.

鈥淭his major investment in Worcester brings benefits to local retailers, businesses, residents and visitors.鈥 

 

Councillor Owen Cleary, vice chair of Worcester City Council鈥檚 Place & Economic Development committee, said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 great to see the improvements to our pavements and public realm here in the city centre, its smart new look is making the area more attractive for businesses, visitors and residents alike, helping to give a boost to Worcester鈥檚 economy.鈥

There will be the need to come back later in the year to finish the resurfacing on The Foregate.

Work on phase 5 got underway recently and will see an upgrade to public space on Foregate Street, including new natural stone paving and the signalised pedestrian crossing relocated from near Pierpoint Street to outside the railway station. The bus stops will need to move slightly whilst facilities for taxis will remain as they are now. The carriageway will be resurfaced at a later date.

The improvements are being delivered by 香港六合彩资料图库 County Council in partnership with Worcester City Council.鈥&苍产蝉辫;

Work is due to finish in Spring 2024, allowing for a long break over the Christmas period to enable the Victorian Fayre and Christmas shopping to take place undisrupted.

The overall programme is part of the major regeneration of the city centre, funded by 拢17.9 million from Worcester City Council鈥檚 successful bid to the鈥疓overnment鈥檚 Future High Streets Fund.
