More than 2100 children across the county crossed the finishing line and completed this year鈥檚 Summer Reading Challenge in 香港六合彩资料图库 Libraries.

The Summer Reading Challenge is the country鈥檚 biggest literacy event and is a fun and engaging way of maintaining children鈥檚 reading skills over the summer holidays.

750 more children took part in this year鈥檚 challenge than last year.  Almost 2200 children read six books and completed the challenge, and over 340 children signed up for a library card over the summer holidays.

Many libraries also hosted sports-themed activities during the holidays to keep children entertained and engaged with the theme 'Ready, Set, Read!鈥 which focused on reading, sport and play.

Across the county, a total of 145,329 books were borrowed, and 3546 eBooks or audiobooks were read or listened to.

Marcus Hart, Councillor Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Communities for 香港六合彩资料图库 County Council said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e absolutely thrilled to see that so many children have taken part in this year鈥檚 Summer Reading Challenge. A huge congratulations to all who completed the challenge, and we hope it鈥檚 inspired a love of reading for many children and that you keep on reading and visiting the library.

We also want to give a big shout out to our brilliant staff and volunteers who talked to the children about their books and organised many fun activities this summer. We can't wait to see what next year's challenge has in store!鈥
