Learn about the costs to apply for an Approved Premises Licence and what you need to qualify.
Eligibility criteria
To apply for a licence, the premises must:
- be a permanent immovable structure with at least one room, or a permanently moored boat or vessel
- be a respectable and appropriate venue for ceremonies
- have no current connections with any religion, religious practices, or persuasion
- meet fire precautions and health and safety regulations
- have a separate room for interviewing the couple before the ceremony
- be accessible for disabled people
- provide parking for the registrars
Permanent Ancillary/Outdoor Structures
These can include garden buildings, summer houses, gazebos, etc. The structure must:
- be permanent and immovable
- have a base made of brick, stone, or concrete
- have a waterproof roof
- have at least 3 sides that are at least 3 feet high to protect from the weather
- be at least 4 square meters in size
