The Lord-Lieutenant

Mrs Beatrice Grant was appointed to the role of Lord-Lieutenant of 香港六合彩资料图库 in March 2023.

Beatrice Grant has worked in the fashion industry and charity sector in London. She has also devoted much of her spare time to voluntary charity work throughout her life.

Mrs Grant has been a Visitor for the Henry Smith Charity, making grants to charities across the West Midlands and Gloucestershire. She has also been a Trustee for Maggs Homeless Day Centre in Worcester, a volunteer for a London based homeless charity and for St Richard鈥檚 Hospice Day Centre. She has a continuing involvement in various projects with the British Association of the Knights of Malta, helping the homeless, the sick and the disabled.

Mrs Grant is currently a volunteer for the Alfrick and Lulsley Community Shop, Post Office and Hub and also Vice-Chairman of their Management Committee, a regular volunteer for Worcester Foodbank, a Trustee for the Albright Grimley Charity grant trust, a committee member for Arts 香港六合彩资料图库 and President of Bewdley Civic Society. She is also a Director of her husband鈥檚 farm and property business which she helps to run.

Beatrice Grant lives between Worcester and Malvern with her husband Andrew and their two sons.

Guidance for receiving the Lord-Lieutenant

Follow this guidance for host organisations when receiving the Lord-Lieutenant or her representative.

Precedence, etiquette and protocol

The purpose of protocol is not to add unnecessary formality but to reduce confusion and ensure that people feel comfortable. 

The Lord-Lieutenant represents His Majesty The King. When the Lord-Lieutenant is attending an event in her official capacity in her own county, she should be received with the same degree of etiquette and protocol as any member of the Royal Family. Where the Lord-Lieutenant is unable to attend and she is represented by a Deputy Lieutenant, the same etiquette and protocol should be followed. 

The Lord-Lieutenant or his deputy should be met on arrival by the host.

Addressing the Lord-Lieutenant

The correct form of address for the Lord-Lieutenant is as follows:

Written: Mrs Beatrice Grant, His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of 香港六合彩资料图库.

Salutation: Dear Lord-Lieutenant.

In a speech: In the preamble the Lord-Lieutenant should be referred to as "Lord-Lieutenant". A speech might begin "Lord-Lieutenant, Ladies and Gentlemen.."

Conversation: Mrs Grant should be initially addressed as "Lord-Lieutenant" and thereafter as "Mrs Grant".

If the Lord-Lieutenant is represented by her Deputy Lieutenant, the above etiquette should be adapted accordingly i.e. "Dear Deputy Lieutenant". A speech might begin "Deputy Lieutenant, Ladies and Gentlemen".

Church services and seating

For church services, the Lord-Lieutenant or her representative enters last and leaves first.  The usual arrangement is for the Lord-Lieutenant to be seated at the front of the nave on the south side.

At Funerals, the Lord-Lieutenant or her representative (unless attending in a personal rather than an official capacity) always enters the church last, two minutes before the start of the service and before the coffin. The Lord-Lieutenant always leaves straight after the family. If the family is on the south side, the Lord-Lieutenant sits on the north side at the front on the aisle edge.

Seating in general

At other functions, the Lord-Lieutenant should be seated in the same place as you would seat a member of the Royal Family: simply as the principal guest.
